All About Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking

Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking starts with an overland journey to Dunche, the main trading post of the area. From here we spend four days hiking up through this beautiful alpine valley to Kyangjin where we rest for a day for some exploration of the high mountains and glacial systems.
Here, mountains rise soaring towards the sky. The landscapes we cross are extremely varied; rice-terraces, gigantic Rhododendron, pine forest, and in the highest parts, a rock and shrub wilderness with the fascinating backdrop of snow capped peaks. Langtang Gosaikunda Trek also provides a chance to observe one of the holy site of Hindu and Buddhist "the sacred Gosaikunda Lake".
We cross the Laurebina pass (4600 meters) and drop into the lush Helambu region and different cultural experiences eventually finishing the trek an hours drive from Kathmandu. This trek offers fascinating views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakap, Nayakanga, and Langshisa etc.

  1. Day 1 Arrival day in Kathmandu (1350m)

    Actually, Nepal opens in the air; just before the plane lands at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. If you are, lucky enough with the bright sunshine on your arrival day the wide range of soaring Himalayan Peaks to the North is a magnificent view. As you complete the immigration formalities of the airport and make your way out from the Arrivals Terminal, we would offer you a warm Nepalese welcome and transfer you to your hotel in Thamel in a private vehicle. At hotel, you will have a very easy check-in procedure. Let the flight exhaustion go off in the cozy hotel room. In the evening, we will offer you a welcome dinner in one of the finest cultural restaurants of the city.Airports pick up and hotel in Kathmandu with breakfast is included

  2. Day 2 Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley (1350m) and Trek preparation day

    After the breakfast, we will escort you to Pashupatinath- the largest Hindu Temple of Nepal in a private vehicle.The temple dedicated to supreme Hindu God, Shiva banks Bagmati River. At Pashupatinath you will get to see exceptionally carved statues and idols of Hindu deities, a long row of Shiva-Lings, series of small
    temples and the golden hood at the top of main Temple is truly fascinating. Moreover, an opportunity to witness the Hindu Death ritual at Aryaghat Pashupatinath is an offbeat cultural experience. After the exploration of Pashupatinath we will walk along the busy streets of Kathmandu to Boudhanath. A large domed shaped Buddhist stupa, Boudhanath holds huge religious significance among the Tibetan Buddhists of Nepal. A major shrine on ancient Indo-China trade route Boudhanath offered blessings to traders and scholars for safe journey through the high Himalayan passes to Tibet. Saffron robed monks circumambulating Boudhanath, colorful prayer flags touching the skyline from the dome pinnacle to the base of large monument and the and outlets selling Tibetan souvenirs makes this place a true Tibet outside Tibet. Post lunch the sightseeing tour continues to Kathmandu Durbar Square. The exemplary wooden and stone
    craftsmanship at the site makes a place the prominent attraction for tourists. The stone paved streets, pagoda style religious monuments inclusive different Hindu deities are the cultural delights of ancient and medieval Nepal at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Today’s final destination for sightseeing tour in Kathmandu takes you to Swayambhunath. A self emerged Buddhist stupa lies on a hilltop overlooking Kathmandu with its watchful eyes. You will get to experience more about Tibetan Buddhism at Swayambhunath.After the full day; sightseeing tour a private vehicle will escort you to your hotel.Day sightseeing and Kathmandu Hotel with breakfast is included

  3. Day 3 Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

    Drive to Dhunche and continue on to Syabrubesi via Trisuli Bazaar by private transport. Overnight in Syabrubesi. (4WD is necessary because of the rocky un-asphalted road).

  4. Day 4 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel

    After leaving our hotel we cross the Bhote Kosi river towards ‘old’ Syabrubesi. Then we cross over the side of the Langtang Khola. We climb slowly to Doman (1680m) and continue to Landslide Lodge and Hot Spring restaurant The trail now climbs gently up to Bamboo Lodge where we will enjoy our lunch. After lunch, we cross the Langtang Khola and climb up on a good trail to Rimche (2510m). We now descend slowly to our selected teahouse where we will spend the night (6 hrs).

  5. Day 5 Lama Hotel to Langtang

    The day starts with a gentle climb, and soon we will be climbing through a forest of rhododendron. Views of Langtang Lirung (7246m) can be seen from the trail. After little more then an hour we pass Gumanchok (2800m), and then we climb to a park checkpoint at Ghora Tabela (2970m). The trail ascends gradually and we will pass Thangshyap at 3140 m, where we will have our lunch. The route then passes many mani stones, water-driven prayer wheels and a few Tamang villages before arriving in Langtang. (5 hrs).

  6. Day 6 Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa

    Walking through the village of Langtang we will pass many stone mani walls. It then climbs up past the villages of Mumdu and Sindum. The trail continues through yak pastures. After crossing the Langtang Khola we climb up through a landscape scattered with large boulders to a moraine where we will have the first views of Kyanjin Gompa and the icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and Langtang Kinshung. Our route weaves through the large boulders to a gompa and from here it’s a short descent to Kyanjin Gompa.

  7. Day 7 Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

    Today we follow our route back to Lama Hotel, the trail goes with a few short exceptions most of its way downwards, descending around 1400 meter back to Lama Hotel (5 hrs).

  8. Day 8 Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru

    We take the same route until we reach the Landslide lodge where we take the upper trail to reach Thulo Syabru. The trail goes up for around 400 meter, and passes a bhatti at U Kyang on the ridge before arriving at the pleasant village of Thulo Syabru, with its many elaborate carved windows (6 hrs).

  9. Day 9 Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa

    Today we start our trek passing the gompa, school and army post, and then switchback up the steep hill above the village to Dursagang (2660m). The trail continues less steeply from now, mostly in forest of hemlock and oak to the top of the ridge at Foprang Danda, where we will have lunch. The trail to Sing Gompa cuts across the ridge top, staying fairly level as it crosses the head of the valley. After passing the final ridge at 3260 meter we will arrive at Sing Gompa (4 hrs).

  10. Day 10 Sing Gompa to Lauribinayak

    Today the trail climbs steeply up the ridge, then stays in the deep forest and then emerging onto a saddle at Chalang Pati. Here we enter the Goisakund protected area. As the trail ascends there are outstanding views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung. For acclimatization reasons we will stay in Lauberina Yak. Morning views from this small village are great. We can see the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Hirung (3 hrs).

  11. Day 11 Laurebina Yak to Gosaikunda

    We start by climbing further along the ridge till we see the first lakes at around 4,100m. The trail now leaves the ridge and heads high above the Trisuli valley. After the trail crosses a spur, the second lake in the chain (Bhairav Kund) comes into view. The trail climbs gently but continuously to the third and largest lake, Goisakund. Goisakund lake has a black rock in the middle, said to be the head of Shiva. It takes about 45 minutes to walk around the lake (3 hrs).

  12. Day 12 Gosaikunda to Gopte

    The first part of the trail climbs further through rugged country passing three more small lakes towards Laurebina La pass (4,610m). After the pass, the trail descends through alpine country to Bhera Goth. We continue descending along the middle of the valley to Phedi (3,740m) for lunch. From Phedi the route drops to a stream and then climbs to a crest at 3,750 meter. From here we climb in and out ravines across the head of the valley to Gopte (7 hrs).

  13. Day 13 Tharepati to Gul Bhanjyang

    In the morning we walk through the alpine country side with meadows and scrubs typical for high elevation. We will enter the forest and descend to Magen Goth. The trail gently climbs to a small pass at Mere Danda at 3510 meter before descending through rhododendron forest inhabited by only a few shepherds’ huts. The trail continues further down to Kutumsang from where we continue to the nearby Gul Bhanjyang , which is a delightfullk classic hill village (6 hrs).

  14. Day 14 Gul Bhanjyang to Chisapani

    We start by descending down a forested ridge to the long, strung-out village of Thodang Betini (2260m). From here we climb up around 200 meters to the top of the Jhogin Danda ridge and descend over a stone staircase to the teashops at Chipling. Continuing our way down past Brahman and Chhetri villages and through meadows and fields we finally reach Chisapani, which resembles an unfinished tourist resort (5 hrs).

  15. Day 15 Chisapani-Sundarijal-Kathmandu

    We start the day by climbing up the last pass of the trek at Borlang Bhanjyang, which lies at 2,240m. From here we descend through eroded chasms towards the Tamang settlement of Mulkharka at 1,800m. From here it is a short walk to Sundarjial From Sundarijal we can take local transportation, or have our private transport waiting for us to bring us back to Kathmandu (4 hrs). Overnight stay at hotel.

  16. Day 16 At leisure in Kathmandu

    After a successful journey, Here in Kathmandu you will be greeted and transferred back to your hotel. Arrival times back into Kathmandu vary, however it is usual to arrive back at your hotel by mid-afternoon. After returning, you may have the day off for a well deserved and earned rest or if you are still feeling strong, you may hang around the city.

  17. Day 17 End of Trek - Fly back Home

    After a successful journey, we begin our day with a well deserved breakfast for your last day in Nepal. Depending on your flight schedule, will take you straight to the airport so you may begin your trip back home or if time permits, you may do some more shopping.
